Saturday Snaps

Thanks to deer circus, I was recently introduced to the blog Bleu Bird and her "photo an hour posts."

I fell in love, obvs. I secretly was trying to do a photo a day project starting at the beginning of this year, but that wasn't too successful so I thought this could be a good alternative.

Due to a long shopping trip at the local mall with my momma, I only got a few pictures, but I'm thinking this could be a weekly thing I wouldn't be mad about.

some days I wake up feeling very comfortable in my own skin

I took this picture of myself yesterday afternoon. I  didn't put too much thought into it, just set up the tripod, set the timer and stood there. at first review I found it looked sad, but the longer I stared, it didn't feel so sad. it felt simple, mostly calm or something close to it. but also not. there's more to it, but you don't notice it right away, or maybe at all, but it's there. I might just feel that way, because I'm in my own head. but either way I really like all of it.

some days I just wake up feeling very comfortable in my own skin. I like the way my hair falls, and my face isn't covered in blemishes. I do things that i enjoy. I feel accomplished. today was one of those days. I put away laundry, cleaned out my closet, edited pictures, played a song, watched a good movie. I hope you also had a good saturday.

it's also 3:41 am. I am obviously having trouble sleeping. I was going to blog all these notions tomorrow, but I figured "Hey, I'm up. why wait?"

Modcloth's Uniquely You Challenge: Winterberry Tart Coat

Modcloth & Sincerely Peachy: Uniquely You Challenge

Modcloth & Sincerely Peachy: Uniquely You Challenge by sincerelypeachyblog featuring flat shoes

This week I'm participating in Modcloth's uniquely you challenge featuring the Winterberry Tart Coat.

The first time I saw this coat I could have passed out.
Maroon is sort of my thing.
I can't get enough of it, and those who see my day to outfits would confirm that statement.

Honestly, I'm not one to shy away from wearing Christmas colors every day of December, so I did not hesitate for one second to pair this coat with some green tights. And this cream dress (aka my kyrptonite.) from H&M has my drooling a bit. Oh and the t-strap flats that have been on my to buy list for way too long. It's a problem. This outfit, for me at last, is the right amount of festive and dressy for the many Christmas parties that need attending.

If you want to fall in love and treat yo self (or a friend, or yourself) don't hestitate to visit Modcloth.

Polish & Perspectives

I got a new nail polish. Its a dark periwinkle purpley sorta thing.
its also glitter for days. I love it. So much.

p.s. obviously this cold weather is already doing a number on my hands.

There's been a lot of things lately that make me feel like I have a new perspective.
I'm gaining more respect for myself, and everything that I am.
My sensitivity, femininity (or lack thereof), sense of humor and general opinion.
Everyday I'm learning how to better care for myself.

I'm slowly but surely realizing what is most important, and what is worth sacrificing to get it.
I'm spending more of time obtaining goals and working towards being the person I'd like to be.
A photographer, designer, future wife and mom, a disciple.

I'm getting happier all the time.
I hope your week is going great.

P.s. I finally got around to creating an etsy shop; take a look

Designing for days.

I think I'm done. With designing this ole blog.
The past few days haven't shown lots of changes,
just a lot of uncertainty.

I've been so inspired by simplicity is others blogs,
and you can see that translated to mine.

I'd love to hear your critiques? Placements?
Fonts? too black and white?
Don't hesitate to say.

Hopefully, a week from now I'll still like this.

ON ANOTHER NOTE.

remember my weekly goal to design? ha well i did.
and this made it out of this creative brain of mine.

It's lyrics from Lana's song featured in the Great Gatsby?
The greatest song right, fit for the greatest movie.

I told you that when I embarked on this designing journey
I'd share with you.
So please share on pinterest, and if you print this out and use it in your home?
Please show me :)

happy thursday friends, thanks for reading this blog of mine.

Moving out and Picture rails.

I'm moving out.
Not til fall, probably, but out.
With a couple of my best friends, and I could not be more excited.

Basically I've been spending too much time looking at wall decor.
It's a problem. but I love it.
Here are some pieces that have really caught my eye.

As far as hanging my pictures, I've recently been introduced to the picture rail.
It's such a great way to fill your space with art, with out distracting the eye.
A variety of hooks combined with strong nylon chords leaves you with so many possibilities.
Don't hesitate to take a look.

Happy Saturday Loves.

Dating and Designing.

dating is hard. this might not be a surprise to a lot of you.
but i actually thought it was going to be a blast.
this is the first time in my life where i've actually had to date.
i'm spoiled. it's always been "crush, first date, boyfriend" type deal.

i've had some thoughts that may be valid, or i may still be in a daze.
but thoughts none the less.
i'm odd. and it might take awhile to find someone else who's odd, matches mine.
a fun time doesn't always make for a relationship.
settling is not even an option. not for a second.
it's okay to wait to be swept off my feet.

Let's just say someone is testing my capability to wait.
And wait I will.

p.s. im trying to be a more productive person.
the plan is that once a week, i'm going to design.. something.
and like this one, they'll probably be up for free download.

p.p.s. this was inspired by Elsa at The girl with plans.
take a look. her words are great, as are her pictures.

Summer fashion inspiration

It's finally starting to feel more like summer in this Utah place.
I, for one, could not be more happy.
I love spending summer with my curly hair in shorts, and sandals.

New seasons always leave me wanting to add too many things to my wardrobe.
Whether bought or made these things are on my list.

1. Lace trim shorts
2. Sea inspired hair pieces
3. Printed Suspenders (I lost the link, but its from chictopia, let me know if you see it!)
4. Flower applique tee
5. Fruit purse

What summer fashions do you love right now? I wouldn't mind a reason to take a trip to the mall :)

Floral Crown

I've seen them on pinterest too much.
And everytime I see one?
I think I do a crafty sigh for how whimsical and pretty they are.
I finally made one.

I'm not doing a full DIY because they're are 100 out there.
(I used this one.)

You'll need...

1. Make your floral hoop, I twisted 5 pieces of wire together, so it was sturdy.

2. Cut the blooms and attach with wire, wrap the wire with floral tape...and repeat, repeat.

3. Be all cutesy and what not.

here's what i ended up with. im in love.

While I don't think I could pull this off day to day, I am too excited to use it in photo shoots to come.

DIY Vintage Light Switch Plate

I met up with my fellow blogger friends Arielle and Brittney
We decided to do a craft, and through pinterest inspiration, this is what we did!

Before & After

1. First find a pretty plate(s). We got ours, under a dollar each, at thrift stores like D.I. and savers!

2. Triple bag them up? and slam them on the concrete. I was so nervous for this step, just because the plates even sliding in the car was sending chills in my spine. But it was easier, and a lot more fun then I thought it'd be!

3. We laid down our china pieces in a pan, for easy sorting, and picked out the pieces we wanted to use! (obviously, be carefully not to cut yourself up)

4. Next, lay down a patter then glue away. We used hot glue, but a few of my pieces have already been bumped off...so I say SUPER GLUE! :)

here are the final results.

Antiquing for crafts.

Today me and a friend went to my favorite antique store, planted earth.
It's in orem, on state street, and you won't regret going if you get the chance.
It's lovely, to say the least.

We got some adorable vintage buttons to help us make a great easy peasy craft.
I'll tell you all about it tomorrow.

new new, new new.

I've been getting new things.
(I blame this coming spring rather than my frequent shopping trips)

I decided this week I'm going to share these new things with you.
I got a new hair cut, you can see a better shot here. I also finally found some glasses to replace my old broken clear lenses. (similar here) And last but definately not least, I got new lipstick. I feel like there's few commitments bigger than buying a new lipstick, you can hope, but hardly ever know. I decided on a dark dark maroon, called wine and forever

Feeling Lucky?

St. Patricks Day is one week. I'm too excited.

I've been working on lesson plans for my pre-k class.
Finding cute green inspired outfits.
And planning some yummy treats to make (obviously)
So, of courrrrssseeeee.
I'm compulsively browsing pinterest.

Thought I'd share my favorite finds.
p.s I feel like most holiday things I like are food, and I'm not sorry about it.

(i can't even find the original source..if you know? let me know!)

Invincible Summer Freebie

I'm longing for summer.
not even summer, i guess.
warm days.
the freedom to leave my house not wearing a coat.
being able to sit outside, and not lose feeling in my fingers and toes.
the sun being out past the time i finish dinner.

long story short.
i found an old photo i took last summer.
& decided to make a new Facebook cover photo.

You can have it if you want.

The Hobbit.

I'm no movie critic, but I thought I'd give you my 2 cents.
I  thought it was so well done.
Having seen it 2x, I am just impressed by it all.

I was surprised how entertained I was.
I was on the edge of my seat anxious, and frightened, and laughing,

I was worried that because the movie was so long,
and they are stretching the book so thin I was going to be bored.
I never found myself saying "when's this part going to end"
Everything seemed so well thought out and connected.

There was that one part, after they have left rivendale, and are walking along the mountains edge?
I didn't understand the "thunder fight."
But I figured it was one of those things, that for those who had read the book,
would have been upset if it was excluded.
And it's 5 minutes compared to the movies 3 hours, was not a big deal.

Dating a film major has helped me appreciate
all the work that goes on, on the other side of the screen.

There's a scene when all the dwarfs and Gandalf have gathered at Bilbo's home,
and Gandalf is standing in an area between a pantry and the dining room.
I was so impressed how well the brought everything to scale.
Gandalf was hitting his head on the ceiling while the dwarves looked half his size.
At first I was like "wow that's some really good green screen work"
then a dwarf hands Gandalf a drink...and he takes it...and I said what the?
Film is magic. It's so ridiculous.
All the scale doubles, and different angles, and tricks they used to help
you believe that Bilbo was the size of a child,
and that these average sized men were riding mini horses...
and holy cow. it's amazing.

I watched the Lord of the Rings last week to get ready?
I now openly admit I'm the biggest nerd.
I never thought I could casually talk about a wizard mending the grudgeful relationships
of dwarves and elves while also leading them back to their home land
previously taken over by a fire breathing gold coveting dragon.
Ben would be proud.

ANYWAYS.....
If you like Lord of the Rings, you'll love this movie, and have probably already seen it.
anyways, if you read this whole thing? props.

and......go see the movie.
