I've been working on lesson plans for my pre-k class. Finding cute green inspired outfits.
And planning some yummy treats to make (obviously) So, of courrrrssseeeee.
I'm compulsively browsing pinterest.
Thought I'd share my favorite finds. p.s I feel like most holiday things I like are food, and I'm not sorry about it.
YAY!
I'm so excited!! Like really excited!!
I have loads of fun things to share with you! :)
First, being the little baker I like to pretend I am, I baked a cake.
A 100th post celebratory cake.
A white cake with cream cheese frosting.
I used wilton color gel, creamy peach and aqua teal.
I got my sprinkles at target and DIY'd my bunting flag You'll have to trust me when I tell you, it was as delicious as it was cute.
Me and my family were going to run the 5k..(giving me a guilt free reason to eat my cake)
but we were late, but we did the do the fun run around the block...
so that counts for something. :)
That's me running, don't mind the fact i'm a huge dork.
me and the sister in law
just some storm troopers, who knows why they were there?
(no one...no one knew.)
Third, jumping out of planes. I did it! I went sky diving! I'm still in shock...
Honestly, even when I was in the plane, in the sky,
I still wasn't sure I was going to through with it!
It was the craziest, weirdest, most fun experience I've ever had.
I definitely feel super accomplished.
p.s. go sky diving. you won't regret it.
Fourth. Music Monday?
A short stop motion film called "Lost Things" (i love stop motion.)
Featuring Alison Sudol ,of A Fine Frenzy (i really really love a fine frenzy)
and her song Sleepwalking. (i now love this song...)
ENJOY.
p.s. Thanks friends for reading my blog, and following,
and commenting and being awesome.
seriously. thanks.
p.p.s. im still looking for sponsor swaps, email me at
One time I liked to bake.
Things weren't always delicious, and definitely not always pretty.
but the love was there.
I get giddy when I see batter rise, becoming fluffy and light.
I wish for cupcake tins, sprinkles, and gel based food coloring.
I adore hearing of happy taste buds and satisfied tummy's.
What's better than baking a mouth watering cupcake? baking it with my dear sister in laws.
We made some great summer-y cupcakes yesterday.
They were lemonade cupcakes. Yeah, I know.
I saw some pink lemonade frosting in the cake aisle, and I was sold.
although I will openly admit
I have nooo idea what the difference between regular and pink lemonade is..
{hit me up if you have the answer}
Since Harmon's was out of Duncan Hines (my favorite box mix brand) lemon I went with Betty Crocker.
Pink lemonade frosting by pilsbury, and lemon head candies to top it off.
{so much lemon so little time..}
Nonly were they delicious, I think they turned out pretty cute too.
I looked for some paper umbrellas, but had no such luck, but they'd be a fun addition right?
These cupcakes we're superb. I highly reccomend it.
I'm also going to make you aware I plan on using the heck out of my "what's new cupcake?" book. expect to see lots of summer cupcakes.
{if you have any summery cupcake ideas, tell me! I'm totally looking for inspiration!}
And as if baking cupcakes wasn't enough I also got to see my darling nephew.
He's the cutest baby. Ever.
Baking. I love it. I don't do it as much as I would like though. but when my brother gave me a rose bud cake pan I couldn't just not bake some delicious treats right away. And let me tell you, they were soooo delicious.
I used the vanilla letter cupcake recipe via Martha Stewart. It was one of the most delicious recipe's I have ever used. I did however add my own little twist with it..I've been obsessed with doing ombre crafts..and while a large majority have not turned out yet, these one's did. :)
Directions 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a standard 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners; set aside. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl; set aside. Put butter and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer. Mix on medium-high speed until pale and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add eggs, 1 at a time, mixing well. Add vanilla. Reduce speed to medium. Mix in 3 batches of flour mixture, alternating with 2 batches of milk. Raise speed to medium-high; mix until thoroughly blended, 10 to 20 seconds. 2. Spoon 1/4 cup batter into each muffin cup. Bake until a cake tester inserted into centers comes out clean, about 17 minutes. Let cool in tin on wire racks 10 minutes. Remove cupcakes from tin; let cool completely. Line tin with muffin cups; repeat process with remaining batter.
My Twist
1. Split up the batter in fourths and add different portions of food coloring,
{ I didn't make the middle two different enough so it only looks like thirds, but that is more than okay with me} I used creamy peach wilton color gel. If you don't use coloring gel, do. It's amazing.
2. Layer the batter one on top of another & bake.
p.s. The pan is a nordic ware sweetheart rose pan. {25-30$} It's fun, get it.
